As of April 1, 2026, Taro Ishida has been appointed Visiting Professor at Kyoto University of the Arts.
In addition to his work as a composer and music producer, Ishida will expand his activities into the field of education, offering lectures and dialogue-based programs grounded in his practice of bridging traditional Japanese music and contemporary composition.
Throughout his career, Ishida has explored new possibilities in music by connecting diverse musical systems, including gagaku, classical music, and electronic sound. Beyond compositional technique, his work engages with fundamental questions such as: What is music? and How is culture formed?
Through his teaching, he will share not only practical methodologies but also the philosophical perspectives developed through his creative work, encouraging students to approach music as both an artistic and cultural inquiry.
By bringing together creation and thought, Ishida aims to cultivate new forms of expression that transcend disciplinary boundaries.
