Renewal of Michinoku Matsuriya at Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya
In April 2022, Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya's "Michinoku Matsuriya" reopened after a major renewal.
As a music producer, I was involved in this significant project for a year and a half.
I am immensely grateful to the team at LIL Inc. for this opportunity.
This production features Aomoriya staff as performers, and it turned out to be a wonderful masterpiece.
Whether you are a Nebuta enthusiast, a beginner, a traditional music lover, or just passing by, this show is sure to impress everyone.
I confidently recommend it.
Michinoku Matsuriya Renewal
The music, visuals, space design, and even the costumes were all completely revamped by LIL Visual Art Studio.
Numerous brainstorming sessions, meetings, and experiments were conducted, including:
- Deciding whether to significantly rearrange the traditional music (Ohayashi)
- Determining the extent of digital elements to be included
- Coordinating the performance direction
- Planning the distribution materials for the audience
- Designing shadow plays, costumes, and visuals
In addition to meetings, I gained various experiences on-site:
- Presenting directly to President Yoshiharu Hoshino
- Meeting Aomoriya staff
- Studying Nebuta and Ohayashi
- Long-term on-site production at Aomoriya
- Rehearsing with taiko (drum) instructors
- Producing music, visuals, and costumes
The performers, who are staff members of Aomoriya, did an incredible job.
Recreating the traditional performances from scratch for the 2022 renewal was a significant challenge. Despite their regular duties, the staff approached the stage with a positive attitude, resulting in a fantastic performance.
The musicians, who were already good performers, have become even more amazing over the past year. They are now truly professional.
Watching them, I was reminded of the beauty of music.
If you have the chance, please visit Aomoriya to experience the show.
For those seeing it for the first time, it will be a stunning and overwhelming experience. The stage production is exceptional, and I would love to take this group on a world tour.
If you come to Aomori, be sure to see this performance. It is held almost daily.
